Early Repayment

The Federal Act on Consumer Credit (KKG) grants consumers the mandatory right to fulfil obligations from the consumer credit agreement even before the end of the term (so-called early repayment).

In this case, the consumer is entitled to a waiver of the credit interest and an appropriate waiver of the other costs for the unused period (Art. 17 para. 2 KKG). The reduction of costs is usually pro rata temporis. However, the reduction may also be lower if the contractually fixed costs for concluding the contract or the costs for a credit intermediary were relatively high.
